Tourists love to come to California to relax, soak up the sun, and visit the spas. But you can buy a spa package in Georgia. Why would you go all the way to San Jose, California? What else is there to attract the modern woman? Shopping of course! Southern California is a shopping mecca. Don't let San Jose's small size relative to Los Angeles fool you. You'll find shops selling everything under the sun. Look below for just a few of the shopping options.

Santana Row

This shopping district is full of the city's most upscale luxury brand stores, which naturally makes it one of San Jose's most popular. Don't expect to find any Wal-Marts here. Shops in this area sell only the best handmade organic diapers, clothes, and jewelry. Some of the 90 shops and restaurants you'll find in this area include Burberry, Gucci, Brooks Brothers, and St Croix. The feel is that of a small European village. There are also hotels, spas, and salons in this area.

Downtown San Jose

Pre-designed shopping areas tend to become indistinguishable from one another, but this is not so of downtown shopping, especially in San Jose. Since it was cobbled together at different times by different owners, the shop selection is more eclectic. You might find a small shop selling organic aquarium fish foods next to a large upscale clothing boutique. There are also plenty of restaurants, banks, services, and even a Japantown area. On the edge of downtown there's even a standard shopping mall for those of you who are looking for chain stores like Target.

El Paseo De Saratoga

El Paseo De Saratoga is the ultimate American shopping experience. Filled with chain stores specializing in everything from fuse holders to sofa beds, there's also a 14 screen movie theater, so the entire day's entertainment is wrapped up in one location. When you stop for a bite to eat, you can visit a sit down restaurant or pop by for some fast food, as there are a wide spectrum of restaurants and corresponding budget ranges here. Other typical American malls in the city include Westgate and Oakridge.

Great Mall

Though not technically in San Jose but out in ear tags on cattle country, this mall is worth a trip for its great outlet prices. If you want to wear fashionable clothes from Saks Fifth Avenue and bebe but can't afford the full price, this is the place to go.
